The preceding day 3 meters (10 feet!) of snow blanketed the area isolating it. We were first train in - took 8 hours of trip usually taking 35 minutes. Train had giant auger on front to drill through 20 foot drifts. Swiss know how to do this! Scary! Baggage arrived that evening, and was hand delivered to room. It is absolutely correct that the Swiss have complete control over your luggage and skies, checked in Swiss Rail at Geneva. Matterhorn incredibly beautiful! Perpetual cloud "flag" on Matterhorn. All transportation at Zermatt via horse drawn sled - really neat!
You can ski from Zermatt to Zirvinia Italy all down hill, one hour. Don't want to be caught there. Tram return to Zermatt.
Then took Glacier Express train (beautiful!) to St. Moritz. We made this long awaited ski trip one week after the first shuttle disaster. Everybody knew we were Americans yet there were some (not Swiss) who told us we had that disaster coming to us. Try to not let those remarks ruin the beautiful trip!
