@JacX1 Best was worthy of the name Beatle for two years. If he had been in the band two weeks that claim may be valid, truth is they didn't like the fact he had such a strong personality so replaced him with the laid back Ringo Starr as soon as they knew fame was heading their way!

I think "Beatle" means: Good, Great and Better !!!!!!! What does "a beatle" mean ? It's too clear !!!! Besides George Martin didn't want Pete for the record sessions because during the audition he observed Pete didn't do well !!! I really feel bad and sad about Pete, but that is life !

@JacX1 Utter bollox! Pete Best was considered as a good enough drummer if you ask people who saw the band in Liverpool and Hamburg.

u cant pull off any live gigs at all....without a rock solid steady drummer,its that simple.ive read again and again best wasnt up to speed.cruel but real.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ringo. I just think they could've handled his sacking better, like, actually kicked him out themselves.

He was cute. Too bad he wasn't up to par.

The accurate John Lennon quote says this: "Pete Best was a drummer; Ringo Starr was a Beatle." (Beatles Monthly Book #249, January 1997, page 5) -- Not "good" or "great" or "better" -- just "a drummer."

@LaFayta
he means pete best never really cut it. He was a terrible drummer, but fit the part as long as he could till they found a real drummer worthy of the name beatle.
