1967 Chrysler New Yorker 440 project

found it in a barn and couldn't resist the urge for the 440.. Lucky for me my father had many of muscle cars during his youth. So this should be a snap to bring back to the road.... FU cash for clunkers for taking a great deal of history of the roads.

Yep its been a while since I've been on but it's for sale for the right price. I just put in dual exaust on this a new Elderbrock Carb.. Wheels and tires so the price has gone up as you can imagine. I had a 67 new yorker when i was18 and did her up a bit. rebuilt the engine with polished rods T.R.W. pistons Chrome molly rings and a crane fire ball cam. Holly single plane intake and a 2 inch tunnel ram riser. 750 cfm. holly carb and multi spark discharge . the 1 big factor is the 67 was the only 440 with closed chamber heads giving it higher compression than all others. I could smoke the tires almost off the car. when it hooked up i blew away a fire bird and a cor vet. fun car

440 had 480 torque,but it was underestimated !!

I loved driving them at 25 mph then flooring it and the back tire light up ,even from a stop just floor it and it spins for along time..then slaps you back in the seat.We used to blow away 5.0 Mustangs,Vettes and imports in the late 80's with my buddies...

The 440's ran smooth even running on 6.5 cyl...so do a compression check ,ensure the carb works good and it should haul..even with 2.76 gears they run like a new 300C Hemi or better..

Nice find. I learned to "drive" on '67 New Yorker - my Dad's. I loved that car. This one sounds like it is in pretty good condition. The exhaust is leaking - not too surprising. The engine makes 350 HP - torque around 410 I believe. I can remember a couple of family vacas int he car - getting about 17 MPG on the trip. Not too bad for the size. Big car - big trunk - smooth ride - good memories - please keep us updated on your progress as you restore this. Thanks for sharing it
