This is my simple method of adding stiffening carbon fiber to my Parkzone Radian. Takes about 10 minutes per side to do if you're not too fussy about looks. After all it's just a foamy. : ) But Radians fly really great and even better if you do this mod to remove fuselage flex when the rudder deflects in turns. Even better, the weight gain was 7 grams total.

  • Hi,

What is the size of this stuff??

All I see on ebay is 2K , 4K , 6K , 12K , 24K , but I'm not sure any of it is proper...If you could send me a link to "anywhere" in the USA for this material of correct size by emailing me here at youtube....much appreciated. Thanks

  • @XRayCam I used 12K carbon tow. I have sense used fiberglass strands pulled from some

fiberglass cloth that looked about the same in cross section and it worked great too. On one of my radian fuselages I used clear box/mailing tape. That worked great too. The tape helps to keep the fuselage from getting banged up on the bottom side.

  • nice mod ,nice and Pro like...Ahh do oyur doctor perscribe you popcycle stciks as well.My doc would Prob laugh at me and say no lol if i asked for stuff liek that.

what do you tell him you need Needleless syringe for?

  • She's an old friend that knows me and knows that I need them at my day job. I squirt dye with them to find underwater leaks.

  • @leaktech1 Im going to get the Radian Pro soon.the PNP version.

it seems they fixed/mods that alot of people did too the Org Radian.

I just built a Scratch Built Glider. called OSG ... 60'' Wingspan ,shes a 3Ch made from 1 20x30'' 4mm sheet of Readiboard from the dollar store, hence the name (One Sheet Glider)

I think the Flap and AIl additions too the Pro well make the already amazing plane

    even better. ;0)

heres the build on RC groups...

i have a vid of the maiden on my Channel ;0)

  • I built the OSG too. Look for Leaktech on Springers build log. Have much bigger gliders now. Just finished a 3 meter span Mirage. Working on a 96" E power tug this week. Then I'll build a 4 meter foam sailplane. Check my blog at RC Groups to see the wing method. We were able to aerotow the OSG but it's hard to keep straight behing the tug due to it's small size and light wing loading. We even aerotow up an old Radian that I cut the front off and installed a release. Checking your vid now. : )

  • Great build! We use wingstays to secure the wings. see them here on youtube.

  • @leaktech1 ... found a company that sell Carbo tow in the UK :-)..

Just waiting for a E-Mail on what gauge they have in stock...

    Thanks again for the replys..

    Regards Sean

  • Hi Sean, Use what you have. Carbon tow is overkill for this task. Fiberglass will be better because it almost disappears when you wet it out. Pull some fibers from a length of glass cloth. Just about any kind of fiber would work if it's long enough. Cotton, polyester, nylon....etc will work. Around here in Phx AZ there's palm trees with long fibers in the leaves. I'm sure there is something you can use in your location.

  • @leaktech1 ...It not that it's banned..It's down to "supply and demand"

If there no demand for it , model shops don't supply it,Over here in Ireland.....simple as that...Were so backward...LOL...

!2.000 yard ? I'd only need enought to do your Mod....

I've just bought a Radian,it's still in the box...

But I'd like to copy your mod before I take it out to fly...

    Regards Sean
