The Australian Budget for 2011, delivered tonight by Treasurer Wayne Swan. Was this the tough budget we expected? Was this a responsible budget or was it political showcasing? Why are they so tough on the disabled and why do they still have a $5,000 baby bonus. A policy borrowed by the Hitler Government in the 1930s. Why are don't they expand University Scholarships for positions that are needed which are University trained, rather than raise immigration?

  • The fascist who gave 3 thumbs down has been here. The wanker.

  • this gillard government is a classic socialist government in that its sole reason for being is to stay in power whilst running debt-economies, producing social-engineering laws and always using news and press media propaganda.

gillard is a perfect example of the term "A woman's perogitive".

  • @MalcumTurnbullMP An interesting way of putting it.

  • Eddie McGurie today on The Hot Seat said the HECS scheme should be abolished and that tertiary education should be free and paid for by the futures fund because free education is an investment in the future. so many people reject uni and skills training because of the HECS tax on theirs and Australia's future. Yes Gillard Govt is set to cull disability pensionersto get bludger-hate-vote while middle classers get more in welfare. all those who "leech" return all their money to local economies.

  • @TheWesternTasmanian The "leech" ones are in a minority, I forgot to say that. I think it would be great if they did abolish HECS fees. It really does invest in the future. Gillard and Abbott had free fees when they went to Uni. Hopefully history will record those of us who opposed Uni fees, I was there in the student demonstrations which were huge. Politically, the Governments that are so "fiscal" always seem to get their own way.

  • Well said Sir.

  • @saintfletcher - extreme over pricing of housing especially renting is the elephant in Australia's econmic room. Education, training anf jobs are all secondary endeavours after the need for people to have stable, decent, safe and affordable long term homes. Too many baby-boomer mum & dad landlords with their invesntment properties havs skyrocketed Aussie housing costs since nception of negative gearing. also bono should be killed.

  • the budget like the gillard government is a souless self-serving media-cycle driven exercise aimed soley at remaining in power.

  • A shrewd observation there, about countries who offer free education. I've never heard anyone ever address that, and it's true. Thanks for thought-provoking.
