this is my gmc 350 tbi with the lid flipped and the throttle body spacer.

and the tbi is under pressure. the fuel injectors spray the fuel into the intake. a carb sucks the fuel.

the fan clutch makes that whine. i just switched my 94 swb 350 tbi to electric fan and it sounds a lot nicer

@Chevrolet8608 i used to have a 94 Silverado Sport (you know, single cab and step side) and i did the same thing, and i´d notice i was getting more mpg and the truck had more power, i did it just cause of the sound hehehe but i got more than that :P

@Chevrolet8608 The stock air intake is more fuel effecient due to it sucking in colder air. But when your do this it lets more air in, which burns the gas more effeciently, and the hot air makes torque. so lower hp

@canadianfusion It also pulls in hot air from the engine compartment, which will cost you a couple of horsepower and a little fuel economy. Cool air is more dense, therefore detonates with more of a charge.
