"Hope isn't just an outstanding violinist - he's also a musical storyteller. Have a listen." (ZEIT)

Watch this trailer on Daniel Hope new DG release honoring Joseph Joachim, a central figure of 19th-century musical life. Friends with Mendelssohn, the Schumanns, Brahms, Dvorák, Liszt, Bruch and others, Joachim was a revered violinist, conductor, and composer of the Romantic Era.

The central piece of the recording is Bruch's Violin Concerto, its violin part completely reworked (at Bruch's request) by Joachim into the form we know today. Daniel Hope plays the concerto with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under Sakari Oramo.

Besides the album contains Joachim's early Romance for Violin and Piano and his beautiful Notturno for Violin and Orchestra and several works dedicated to Joachim as Brahms' Wiegenlied (sung by Anne Sofie von Otter) and Scherzo, as well as the Clara Schumann Romanze.
