  • what do you use for descending? is it possible to use a grigri on srt?

  • @luvmonkey666

Normally I switch over to a Ddrt system when I get to the top. If I descend I will normally use a rack and on a long descent I back it up with a friction hitch. I find the grigri to be very jerky

  • very smoothe nice job. are you using a single hand petzle ascender?

  • @dimix333

    It's a CMI expedition

  • footlocking is way faster and is less gear to bring up with you. plus it's easier to switch to drt when you get up there

  • @joshuarugg Correct, but you can SRT for much longer distances before getting tired

  • @joshuarugg I SRT with a handled ascender and the Petzl Rig, RAD style . It's pretty fast going up - a good bit faster than the foot-lockers that I see working around town (not in competitive climbing, though) and I find that once I am up toward the top-center of the tree, I can just lose the ascender and pulley, and navigate with the Rig, all SRT. There is no way I would characterize Ddrt climbing as "way faster."

  • footlock is bad for the rope and is for lazybones...better use double loep 2 ropes in case you want to break your neck and just use one rope....

  • @lukthedrifter srt is way more efficient

  • @lukthedrifter SRT is ascent only, two different animals
