This past Easter we opened our services with a four element package, the video above is the first two elements. We decided we wanted to open the services with a slightly darker, more intense feel, and we fell in love with the lyrics of Mess Of Me by Switchfoot early in our planning stages. The idea that we (humanity) have made such a mess of ourselves, and that the only thing that can save us is the amazing grace of the Gospel.
Kyle Gray (iCampus Pastor) wrote a spoken word intro to the song, to which Jared Kaelber (Pastor of Music Technologies, Drummer Extraordinaire) actually spoke it and programmed the audio to the intro, the CedarCreek.tv band played the music track live before going into a live version of the song.
The video itself was shot entirely in one day in a small room we covered completely in black plastic, and lit with three soft boxes rigged to the ceiling (it was in a storage area, so the ceilings are very high, higher than the room's walls). Ryan Lynch (Video Producer) was the lead on the project and was assisted by two other video producers as well as two interns.
