This video was recorded while I was driving in my car earlier today. I didn't spend a lot of time planning....I recorded what was on my mind. Yes, I know I am all over the place with this, but I wanted to record what I was thinking before I forgot or got too busy to do it later.

Here are some links to check out that relate to this video:

Part One of the "Eyes on the Prize" documentary:

The You Tube channel link below has most of the rest of the documentary plus other great videos:

  • find the episode of The Boondocks where MLK comes back. that will tell you what he would think.

  • Your father was on point. I think doctor king would be embarrassed. Having the opportunity to jump into bed with a white person or any other race does not mean squat to me. It's all about social mobility. Behind closed doors many of the other races have no respect for us at all.

  • "Chris Rock put it down plain and simple: Civil War between Black people and Niggas!"

  • The frenzy over those damn Jordans embarrassed the hell outta me. All these people going crazy over some damn sneakers set back the black community forreal smh.

  • Good analysis! I think that Dr. King's dream was a monumental contribution in American history; it seems speculative to ponder what he'd think of society today, but I think he'd frown on the amount of narcissism in today's popular culture. As a generalization, African-Americans have as many educational and entrepreneurial opportunities than ever before. Proof: LeBron James, Will Smith, & Barack Obama have proven if you have the skills, you can be successful regardless of race.

  • @JunebugObama Up until 2 weeks ago, I had only watched perhaps 1 episode of "Eyes on the Prize". However, I've never forgotten the history lessons of the era.

As per you mentioning it, It took me approx. 2 weeks to view all of it. I would contend that this documentary should be mandatory viewing in all schools. That's private and public institutions included. I'm sure there is no other collection of film that captures the times. I would also recommend "Waiting for Superman" after "Prize".

  • Dr King was never a judgemental person. Whether you were intelligent or ingnorant. He would still fight for equality today. The country and the world has changed alot from since 1968. It is really hard to say how Dr King would of felt about certain topics like the war on terrorism, Gay marriage, death penalty, human cloning? It is hard to tell if his thinking would of been progressive or traditional.

  • is that buck white? lol

  • Between the Mainstream middle class blacks, the abandoned lower class, the transcendent rich black, and the emergent immigrants (and I count the bi racial group in that) it’s been hard to constitute what makes blackness sometimes. MLK would be a bit disappointed with our unorganized dysfunction as a people. The lack of black leadership has been null and void. The NACCP for the most part made no progress. I would say the same for many of the black leaders yet no one takes accountability.

  • Black youth (men and boys in particular) collectively have not been engaged in spiritual matters, social action, education, or a hunger to get involved in anything to politically deep. Yes we came out to vote for Barack Obama but that’s where it ended it and that movement should have never stopped. MLK would have kept that engine burning if he were alive today.

  • If Dr. King were still alive he would have still been fighting (until he died) for America’s challenges. The War On Poverty (Regan era), Crack epidemic, and Black On Black crime made us regress for 3 generations. The Bling- Bling generation, Thug imagery and the collapse of Hip Hop in the 21st century made Black people mute on the things that really matter

  • I want to say something, first that i don't believe Barrack Obama is african american, not fully he is half white and i think that is a big reason why he is in the white house. Second Dr. King would most likely be very disappointed at the black community for not doing better. Better in education and as human beings so much drug use and gang violence, it's really out of control. But i do believe they can do alot more for their lives and community.
