@markwasthere The entire idea for the Sex Pistols was given to Malcom McClaren by his time with the New York Dolls. He formed the Pistols as a "new Dolls" and told the papers that Rotten was a better Johanssen and even swindled Syl out of a white Les Paul guitar (now known as Steve Jones main guitar) by telling Syl he was going to be in the Pistols. Also, like the Dolls, the Pistols were formed around a street-punk clothing store that sold leathers, Johnny later said "we taught Malc everything."

i think they compared them because the sex pistols were the next thing that happened and someone always has to try and connect the dots...the fact that the HB's toured with them in 76 added to it

I play so much like thunders and it wasn't even until a year ago that my drummer and a few others pointed that out that I knew it. I've always loved the Heartbreakers and the New York Dolls.

Everywhere you go today you see alot of people with Johnny's look and them themselves don't even know who he is. I love J.T and The Doll's there what RnR is supposed to be,fun and exiting.
