Using computer animation and amazing astronomical art, Dr. Sagan shows how stars are born, live, die and sometimes collapse to form neutron stars or black holes.

We then journey into the future to witness "the last perfect day on Earth," 5 billion years from now, after which the sun will engulf our planet in the fires of its death throes

  • I resent all the young people bashing. lol. I'm only 19, and I love Carl Sagan! However, I do think he would've made an excellent stand-in for Rod Serling.

  • I know EXACTLY what you mean... I paid $250.00 for the entire set on LASERDISC back in 1990 and couldn't wait to see my favorite episode which is The lives of the stars.. and they CUT OUT MY FAVORITE SCENES!!!! and had the updates at the end of each episode.. I looked at the time legnth and each episode was only 45 MINUTES LONG!!! instead of the original 55 minutes! I was so mad and disapointed... couldn't get my money back since I already opened it... The VHS versions were the origonals but

  • What? Stars eventually leave the nursery and wander? Who knew!

  • @jacoballen1151 do you know what the dvd or "the complete series" is like as fare as cuts and edits

  • I'm in the middle of an early-winter cold-snap, and looking forward to the red giant.

  • I think the most astonishing property of black holes is their size. Size zero! What is also weird is that you can't get close enough to actually see them, because their gravity is stronger than light.

  • @StarMariner1 in the age of tosh.0 and jersey shore its no wonder most kids are retarded.

  • @jacoballen1151
