NS 5824 & 5823 at Holt, MI

NS sister GP39-3s, 5823 and 5824 creep s-l-o-w-l-y across Willoughby Rd. south of Lansing. 5824 is the same unit that collided with a pickup truck in Mason in a serious, but non-fatal, accident three days before.

I dunno. Probably rusty rails or just substandard NS trackwork. It'll be interesting to see if that changes if Amtrak takes possession of this line.

Bad, bad track maintenance. The same line that goes through Leslie has had to flag a crossing at least once due to poor track connectors ad just all around disrepair. Sadly, it hasn't improved since JAIL took it over, and I've seen a couple places at least where the ties have completely rotted away and there's nothing holding the rail to the trackbed.
