One city, two different worlds. A short meditation on life in the city, shot on the same day in two very different parts of Dublin. Bull Island wakes up its smokestacks, barges and passing seagulls, while in the multi-cultural enclave of Stoneybatter on the city's north side, a small barbershop serves two purposes: providing both haircuts and social interaction for Dublin's growing Congolese community. The mixing of imagery with non-synch sound and time lapse footage illustrates the undulating rhythm of life in a changing city.
Created as part of Dublin, The Movie: a 72 hour filmmaking challenge as part of the Darklight Film Festival, all aspects of this film were shot and edited in a 48 hour period. Straddling the genres of both documentary and experimental film, it pushes the boundaries of both, as it stands on its own and was assimilated as part of a feature curated by lauded Irish filmmaker Lance Daly.
