Part 2 of 4. This is not the full set, just a few of the best bits (i think anyway)!

This is one awesome set! One of the best uk dj's, DJ SS, with two of the uk's premier and most respected mc's, MC Bassman, a.k.a. 'The Teacher', 'Honey monster', and MC Spyda a.k.a. 'Black Tarantula'.

DJ SS, born Leroy Small (on August 27 1970), is a Drum and Bass DJ and producer from Leicester, United Kingdom. Originally a breakdancer, DJ Stratch Stein began playing electro music as a teenager in the early 1980's. He then played Hip Hop and Rare Groove before turning to producing in 1988 initially Acid House, Hardcore, Breakbeat and finally Jungle/Drum and Bass tracks. SS got his big break DJ'ing at the big British raves of the early 1990's such as Telepathy. Since then he has gone on to DJ world wide. SS is the co-founder and head of the Formation Records label and has released over 100 tracks using a number of aliases. These include the "Color Series" and the "Country Series", MA3 "Those DJs", the piano-from-Love Story -sampling "Lighter" (the label's biggest hit) plus many more popular Drum and Bass / Jump-Up Jungle tunes. The Formation label has become a stable for new Drum and Bass producers such as John B and Twisted Individual.

MC Bassman was MCing before jungle and drum and bass music existed, he began in the acid house music scene in Birmingham. Back in 1988 MC Bassman was MCing alongside DJs like Carl Cox, Mickey Finn, Ellis D, Ratty, SS, & Easygroove. These were big raves with upto 25,000 ravers and some of them were in outdoor arenas.
But then in 1991/92 a new sound was heard in the raves. It was a hardcore sound with some heavy reggae/dub style basslines, it was Jungle. With its heavy ragga style basslines, Jungle music was perfect for MC Bassman and he began MCing exclusively at Jungle/Drum and Bass gigs. All throughout the 90's MC Bassman built up a name for himself as one of the most original and respected MC's in the scene. MC Bassman teamed up with MC Spyda & MC Trigga to perform at the biggest Drum and Bass gigs all over the UK. There was no other MC that had a sound that was an unique as MC Bassman. He became such a big name that he was often the biggest crowd puller on the flyer even above the DJs. Then suddenly at what seemed to be the peak of his career - MC Bassman was jailed. It is beleived he was jailed for drugs related offences although this has not been confirmed. But when he was released in 2003 he made an instant comeback with one off gigs entitled "Xcon 2 Icon" which were held at The Sanctuary nightclub in Birmingham. Tape Packs were released with these events which are now vary rare.
A new era began for MC Bassman after prison when the Shadow Demon Coalition was formed. Consisting of DJ Sly, Bassman, Trigga, & Shaydee (and later Juiceman) the SDC represents a new level in Drum and Bass entertainment. This crew is currently building up a big reputation with underground DnB fans all over the UK and even in Germany.

MC SPYDA, from nottingham, was first a dancehall MC in the early 80's when he toured the midlands sound system circuit. This is where he built up his reggae style of MCing. When the UK dancehall scene started to stagnate in 1990 MC Spyda moved into MCing at Hiphop and RnB events to further his career. But the big change came when Jungle music was born in early 90's and MC Spyda's reggae style matched perfectly with the new style of music. His career hit the big time when he teamed up with MC Bassman in 1994 to take Drum and Bass MCing to the next level. They developed some famous freestyle routines which were the most demanded sets of any rave or Tapepack and later MC Trigga joined to strengthen the act. MC Bassman gave SPYDA the nickname 'Black Tarantula' and they secured residencies at promotions and clubs such as Pandamonium, Telepathy, Rage, Hacienda, Dark House, Jungle Slammer, Detonate, Gamma Funk, Sidewinder, Formation Records and also residency at Hysteria. In 2000 MC Spyda joined forces with MC Navigator and became a member of the Rawhill Massive which is popular in germany. For more videos click on my username in blue! enjoy!
