Too good Decimus, I am a mere 37 yr old. Have been into these and others since early 90's. I knew then that they were totally dominating there peers. Interesting though is that you can play their stuff in the here and now, and they still are progressive. The clarity of their sound makes them timeless.
refreshing to know peeps are just getting into Autechre and buying there material still, all there early stuff is amazing but i love all their stuff ! Do you mind me asking how old you are ?
Their older stuff was more interesting. The 2010 stuff is highly commercial. If you like this stuff, check out some of the stuff Morton Subotnick or Wendy (Walter, Wendy, Walter and now Wendy I think. Oh hell, he/she may be dead.) Carlos wrote back in the 1960s or early '70s. If you like the Musique Concrete aspects, there are a lot of composers working in that medium. Most use MAX/MSP which is a fantastic program for writing music. Also check out the fractal composers.
Fuck dance, lets art. Dancemusic turned back to "home listening serious music"
