Patient ED @ 617-379-1582 INFO
On the day of your operation, you will be asked to put on a surgical gown.
You may receive a sedative by mouth and an intravenous line may be put in.
You will then be transferred to the operating table.
The surgeon will apply an antiseptic solution to the skin on the interior of the ear canal . . Patient Education
and will then swab the area around the eardrum with a local anesthetic.
While the anesthetic is taking effect, the surgeon will position a microscope in front of the ear. When the operative field is numb,
the surgeon will use the microscope to help make a very small incision in the lower part of the ear drum so that the fluid can drain harmlessly away.
In most cases, one or more drainage tubes are left in place to continue to allow fluid to escape during healing.
Sutures are not required, as the ear drum will heal naturally. And the drainage tube will either fall out by itself - or it will removed by the surgeon, one to three weeks later.

  • @JoshyCompanyProd my daughter had this done at 6 months oldin both ears, they said the tubes didnt have to be taken out unless they start to come out, shes almost 4 now and the 2nd one is being taken out next month, i dont think it hurt too bad, se didnt cry, and shes a baby :)

  • they don't talk about how the doctors can fuck up

and leave holes in your ears

    that never heal

and then if you get water in them

    you get an excruiating infection.

    gee, thanks doc.

  • wow..im just 14 and i will be having it! i havent had any check-up since 6 years old..and surely there will be a lot of fluids...anyway, does it hurt?

  • if they wont fall out then go to your doctor because then something is wrong.

  • yeah you can hear fine and the problems you were having with ear infections are totally eliminated.

As well as avoiding the hearing loss that you would end up with if you had ruptured your eardrum

  • but u be able to hear?

  • 1 too 3 weeks my ass

Ive had mine for 12 years.

    they wont fall out.

  • Really neat and simple video!

  • wow...great....thank you
