This vehicle came in not wanting to idle properly and had bad idle surge. It also was very low on power and didn't want to shift properly through the gears, often entering Sport mode and occasionally sticking in second gear. After replacing the Autozone battery with a World Source One, the transmission seems to be working properly again. After replacing the Autolite spark plugs with NGK, and replacing the valve cover gasket set which was allowing oil to drain into the spark plug wells, the misfires and ceased and the power has returned.

This video is fairly long, but shows a complete cold start through to normal operating temperature. This video was uploaded for the customer to see the current progress.

  • About that Sports mode turned on by itself, that causes the transmission to not shift properly and it goes into limp mode. Basically the car would start on the wrong gear and not shift at all. Thats the TCU (Transmission Control Unit). Watching your video as the car is on idle did the exact same thing with the Sport mode clicking on and off, then eventually off. Disconnecting the battery will make that go away but temporary. Mine always came back about a month later.
