  • The dome is now demolished and a new one is about to be built in it's place. The new one will be nearly twice as big and of all steel construction.

  • @barryarmstead - Kinda sad to know you tore it down after all that work. It looked pretty good to me. I hope you were able to sell or donate the dome at least.

  • @CmdrGendoIkari That's OK, there was a season where it was needed and served it's purpose. If the new one gets approved, it too, will serve a purpose and I am sure it will be grand!

  • @barryarmstead - I look forward to seeing your progress. I think a lot about building a small observatory for my C11, but there isn't a really good spot for it on the property without talking the neighbors into cutting down their ugly overgrown crab apple tree. lol

  • @CmdrGendoIkari flame throwers are nice and subtle...

  • that really puts my effort to shame

  • @mrtapoche1 thanks mate. I had a lot of help from friends, family, neighbours and the good Lord. Everyone did their bit and contributed toward the final result!

  • @AstrophysisistJulz It cost me a year of blood, sweat and tears. Most of it was from recycled materials, but the fibreglass resin was over $600 alone. Not to mention tool costs, glues, nails, etc etc..It all adds up, but over a year it's not so bad.

  • Woah! Awesome.. how much did the dome alone cost?

  • Wow, excellent!

  • Pentagon , Hexagon. Perfect!!!

  • Haha no worries mate.

  • lol! apologies

  • You are most welcome. I had a lot of help from the big dude upstairs!

    Baz.

  • Australia actually dude.

  • only in america

  • Thank you! This is amazing.

  • Amazing

  • Thanks very much Fraxture. The song is Satellite by bt. It is on the Ministry of Sound Chillout Annual 2002 album.

  • Thank you everyone! It was a whole lotta fun and the Lord helped me all the way! The testimonies I have surrounding all the times things were provided for me are amazing! I don't see coincidence anymore!

I just pray it helps one or many to not only build their own observatory, but to see the work of God in their lives and know real peace.

  • Hey Brother!

  • This is an inspiring video, if I ever move to dark enough skies I would like to build an obsy myself. Also like your astro pics.

  • this should be featured.

  • Barry,

    A truly amazing video!!

The massive amount of work involved in building your observatory has really paid off. It is attractive as well as practical.

    And your Astrophotos are fantastic.

Keep up the great work, mate.

    Regards

    Ken James
