Was the job loss due to discrimation or just the downturn in the economy?
Why did you come out and present as female before hormones?

"A transgender man changing to a biological woman" Everything in this sentence is wrong...
-
A transgender man is a woman changing INTO a man. I am a transgender woman. So is she. People need to learn this stuff.

I am amazed by your strength, Jennifer. I came across this documentary (if I can call it that) while doing research for a paper on sexual reassignment surgery and I must say this is so much more real than all those textbook cases I keep reading. I say you should come on over to Vancouver - we'll definitely support you here on the West Coast!

Wow, I thought Canada was much more forward thinking and would already have taken care of such things. Amazing job fixing the system. Good luck Jennifer. :)

some parts of canada are further ahead than others. they are way behind the times here in Newfoundland. Since i did this interview, i have lost my job and i am really having a hard time finding anyone else willing to hire me here. i may have to move to Toronto or Vancouver to get a fair chance in life again... :(

If you follow certain guidelines, and do the two year real life test, you can get the funding for it in Ontario.... I have, and I'm much happier as a woman. I had my surgery ten years ago. My struggle has been getting work, but that's common with women today.

Nfld will actually fund certain things but they've put several hoops to jump thru that make it almost impossible to get coverage. among other things, a cam-h approval is needed, which is really unfortunate, as they do not follow the SOC. Nfld also won't cover SRS in Montreal. BC seems to be the only province that is remotely close to global standards and best practices..
