Republic vs Democracy

Our system of government was never intended to be a democracy. Although many believe that we live in one, they have never been asked to vote on the decisions made by said government. Yet they believe that they are empowered just the same. We are not.

What a pile of steaming shit. The guy's arguments against democracy are just as silly as the ones that Heinlein uses in "Starship troopers". A republic is not the equivalent to democracy. A republic can be a democracy, or an oligarchy or a dictatorship, etc.

Read up on history! Also the stuff he said about how the Nazis came to power is totally wrong. Read up on Raete REPUBLIC and how people were randomly executed etc. What a pile of BS!

.... Also Democracy isn't rule of the majority. Democracy has nothing to do with voting. It is rule of the people as a whole. It is when all members of a community come together to discuss and agree on laws. A Republic is a true rule of the majority. In a republic citizens, though they don't directly vote for laws, vote for the people who make the laws. A Republic is, in theory the rule of the majority, though in practice it is rule of a political and economic elite.
