http://www.great-pyrenees.us/hip_dysplasia.htm - Hip dysplasia in large breed dogs is more common than many breeders will admit. Great Pyrenees, German Shepards, Malamutes, Newfoundlands, Great Danes and other large breeds often experience severe hip dysplasia requiring hip replacement surgery.

  • my 7 yo neo mastiff has had hd most of her life, at vet today collapsing at back now, going to try upping dose of metacam she gets daily c if this helps , cant afford surgery as this costs at least £ 1000 per hip.

  • The dog has hip dyplasia and the owners are kind enough to show others what are the visual symptoms. This dog is not in severe pain in the video. My dog has the same condition and is approx. the same age and unfortunately will be having surgery to extend his quality of life. I concluded that he indeed has this disease by seeing this video as well as a follow up diagnosis with my vet. This breed looks overweight more than other dog breeds due to the thick fur. Thank you for sharing.

  • why letting a dog run the stairs.?? i mean seriously.. you can see she's in a pain.. :O

  • You aren't helping her by letting her get horribly overweight. She tried.. poor girl.

  • She needs to loose some weight, then some physical therapy. You can give her some supplements as well. I am a vet and I have a blog where you can get more information on how weight control, physical therapy and taking supplements help with hip dysplasia and other dog arthritis problems. Just go to dogarthritisblog.info. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • beautiful dog, i love this breed. please look at my puppy here at "saving bomber" thank you for showing people, education is everything! debbie

  • @AndreaBadu How can you tell with so much coat on it? :)

Either way loosing some weight would only do good for a dog with bone problems

  • sorry to be blunt, but this dog defenitely needs to loose weight. not only because of the HD but other diseases following obesity. you would really do her a favour!

  • wanted to let you know your not alone

  • @rouche310 no
