  • I don't get it...

  • Nixon appeared on the TV comedy show "Laugh In" (the first time a sitting President had done such a thing). The running joke on the show was to have the guest say "sock it to me." and get doused with water or some other crazy thing.

Nixon mulled over how to say the line for a while they say.

  • @Champion1970 I'm pretty sure he was running for President at the time.

  • @AllenbysEyes You are correct sir....I stand corrected. ;)

  • @dcavalli9 That was cute how you just made up a bunch of stuff Reagan supposedly did, but didn't really do, cited zero sources, then threw in a stupid Rush Limbo line at the end. Two points.

  • @terracottapie Let's see... Unemployment fell, inflation (way back then a big issue), free-fell, and the economy grew. By the time Reagan left office, unemployment was under 6 percent.

I'm sure the Communist Party or the Socialist Workers will put up a candidate you can take pride in. (I just read that Roseanne Barr/Arnold) will run on the far-left Green Party ticket. Maybe she's more your style than Obama...

  • this will win me a million dollars some day.

  • @artiplusrotti lol yeah!!

  • According to Billy West (Futurama voice actor) They based all of Nixon's personality on this one line.

  • This was during the '68 campaign / I think I remember seeing an interview with George Schlatter saying that they offered for Humphrey to come on too but he chose not to for whatever reason / the rest is history.....

  • @dcavalli9 Wasn't it obvious I am not an Obama supporter, based on my statement of "EVEN OBAMA"?

Just because someone opposes a shitty Republican president, it doesn't mean they automatically support a Democratic president. This isn't sports where you root for sides.

Also, on what planet did Reagan improve the economy? It was stuck in a ditch when he took over, and he drove it off a cliff, not to recover for 15 years.

  • @terracottapie Yeah, Reagan (and the pope) just won the Cold War, improved the economy, and reduced inflation. If that's a nightmare, I'll take it compared to Obama.
