In the late 1980s holsters from Ernie Hill speed leather dominated practical shooting competition. At my web site, www.davesgunpages.com, I have more information on the Ernie Hill holster, as well as comments on some of the people and scenes in this video.

  • not bad for a one-eyed fat man. Thanks for the video.

  • @NotElmerKeith Fill your hand you son of a bitch! :)

  • Ernie got out of holster making after speedshooters began using synthetic holsters with multiple adjustments. He went into other businesses (not shooting-related) and has been very successful. He still loves holstermaking and has said he might be making some concealment type models as a sideline/hobby.

Absolutely one of the nicest guys around, and a perfectionist at whatever he does.

  • Dave...I used to have Ernie Hill leather back wen I was competing 1986 - 1992. I just recently returned to USPSA/IPSC competition and the first thing I did was go on Ebay and find some odl school Ernie Hill leather only to have the new USPSA Singe Stack rules tell me I cant use it and that am forced to use plastic crap. Any other old timers out there who still love drawing a 1911 from a leather holster? Anyone?

  • Dave....I am flattered sir!!!!!! Thank you for creating this....Ernie

  • When Leatham went over to Safariland I think that spelled the end. I sure miss leather holsters. I still have a brand-new EH black basketweave belt hanging in my closet, hoping one day he would make holsters again.

  • What happened to Ernie Hill??He like disappeared overnight. He even made some killer concealment holsters. All my IPSC stuff was Ernies, great guy!!

  • Thanks for posting Dave. I owned some speedleather way back, excellent product.
