where did you hear 1000cc?
I think the Volt is 1.6L and the expert video on opel-ampera. com says 1.4L.
but yes I know series hybrid is brilliant and yes a 1L or even smaller motor would be good for it.

u might be right, EV are the future, since Hydrogen is not really practycal, this has a 1000cc turbo engine that turns a generator, wich produces electricity, but it has no conection to the wheels what so ever, its proppeled ONLY by electric motors, it works like some locomotives, has a gas engine, but doesnt use that to move. simple idea and its good!

EV will mainly be city cars, so there is no need for high speeds.

I know it's electric :) it's not the sound but the lack of speed I wondered about. electric vehicles can be plenty fast. just search for killacycle here on youtube
