  • At first: Wagner himself said: "Kinder, macht Neues" - meaning: "Children, make something new". He himself said after the Ring in 1876: "If I get the chance again, I´ll do everything in different ways." Stop arguing about how close the interpretation is to the original score of staging. Every time has to deal with opera and theatre in its own way. Otherwise you´ll just get a museum.

  • That's the point! Senta is imagining eveything in this version and killing herself for nothing but her way out of the narrowness of her society.

  • @Dinarrra84 I think you're dumbing things down. To me, there's more negative capability than that. Senta's dream might be the gateway to a parallel universe or just be a figment of her imagination. At the end, we don't know whether she killed herself for nothing or not. The only thing we can be sure of is her ecstasy in dying for something infinitely beautiful and greater than herself. Might not be what Kupfer intended, but who cares? Art can yield more meaning than the artist intends.

  • isn't it horrible how there's virtually nothing with lisbeth balslev?

  • Simob at his very best and Lisbeth simply wonderful

  • My very favorite Dutchman--Simon and Lisbeth are simply wonderful!!

Bravo Maestro!
