Successful alternative education programs provide adequate funding, support, caring teachers, experienced visionary leaders, clearly states purpose and mission statements, small teacher-student ratios, innovative and diverse professional development programs, creative and engaging curriculum designed for individual student needs, data driven accountability and assessment, successful well planned transitioning from one school setting to another (no-dumping), parental support and outreach services, authentic partnerships within the community, and constant evaluation of the programs focus and progress toward meeting the goals of students and community.
