Keep It Real: A Jonas Story, Chapter 1

(It's Saturday morning and the girls are eating breakfast)

Alexa: I was thinking about looking for a job today.

Jessie: Really? Where?

Alexa: Well, I'm not really sure but...

Sam:(interupts her) You can't just be like "I think I'm gonna get a job today" (imitating a high voice). It's a little more difficult than that.

Alexa: You're just jealous cause I'll have a job and you won't. (sticks her tongue out at Sam)

Sam: What are you talking about? I'm not jealous. You don't even have a job yet.

Alexa: Ha! You said yet!

Sam: Look. I could get a job if I wanted to. It's just, well that's it. I don't want to. And how are you so sure you'll end up getting a job today, huh? Do have any idea whatsoever where you'd like to work? Have you thought about the hours? Do you know what....

Alexa: No, okay? I don't know any of that stuff. I'm 16 and I just decided I wanted a job. Is that so bad?!?

Jessie:(feeling a little akward throughout their little argument. But she knows it's not serious. Her and her sisters have fights like this all the time, and it's always okay)

Sam: (is looking at Alexa and sighs) I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone off like that. I just want you to know that having a job is serious. It's not something you just decide to do to have fun and make money. Well, fun depending on what you do.

Alexa: I know that. And I will take it seriously. Actually, I do have an idea of where I wanna work. I just hope they're hiring.

Jessie: Oooh where?

Alexa: Well, I was thinking about Pinkberry. And not just because that would be fun (directing her stare at Sam). But it makes the most sense! I mean, it's only like 2 blocks away, and I'll definitely meet a lot of people. And that's what I want the most. Since I'm homeschooled, I don't really have any other friends besides you guys.

Jessie: I think that sounds like a smashing idea, love. (in a British accent)

Sam and Alexa: (laugh at her strangeness)

Sam: You're just saying that because you're counting on using her employee discount!

(they all laugh)

Jessie: I am not! I'm just happy my little sis is gonna make some friends. But I do like my Pinkberry. (licks her lips)

Alexa: (laughs) Ok. You know what? If I get the job, I'll take you both there for free fro yo sometime.

Jessie: Alllright!

Sam: Are you gonna go now?

Alexa: Yah, I just have to get ready. (goes upstairs to her room, gets dressed, makes her hair look good enough, and puts on a little make up. After about 5 minutes, she comes back downstairs)

Jessie: Wow. It's like super Alexa! That's about a tenth of the time it takes me to get ready!

Sam: We know, Jessie. Good luck, Alexa!

Alexa: (as she's running out the door) Thanks! See ya!

Jessie: Bye!!

(Alexa starts walking down the street to Pinkberry)
