Reason.tv attended the 'One Nation Working Together Rally' on the National Mall on October 2, 2010. The crowd, representing a broad cross section of political left, included groups like the United Auto Workers, United Steel Workers, Service Employees International Union, the NAACP, anti-war activists, the American Federation of Teachers, the International Socialist Organization, and many liberal and progressive groups.

Priority issues for attendees were jobs, the cost of higher education and the economy. Though the crowd was evenly divided about President Obama's first two years in office, it seemed as though everyone agreed that it's time to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Approx. 3.30 minutes. Interviews by June Arunga and Kmele Foster. Shot and edited by Dan Hayes.

  • I heard that the government in Cuba had thrown out all the bankers and took money away from greedy capitalists back in 1959. So I'm guessing things are going great down there. I suggest moving over there to any person dumb enough to support this rally.

  • THE REPUBICANS PUNKED OUT BY NOT ENDING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS!!!

  • these people disgust me

  • governments don't take over in regular times. they take over during times of great peril. Although times are tough right the average american still has a car a cell phone and plenty to eat. When these things change and chaos follows is when the socialist step in and start taking rights away for the good of the people. Hitler was socialist. He promised better times if you just trusted your government to do your thinking for you.Government always wants more.

  • @mizzoulibertarian If he had done that, he would have had to not bail out the banks, and left them fail. This would have plunge the US into a great depression, worse than 1929.

  • @forzared101 That's communism, the extreme of socialism. Not socialism. Canada, Japan, France and most of Europe are socialist.

  • @forzared101 Actually what Cuba doing is not anti-capitalist nor socialist. What they did was dictatorship. Doesn't matter which economic models you use, dictatorships rarely lead to prosperity.

  • @forzared101 YOU KNOW YOU WRONG FO DAT

  • @forzared101

If your talking about "socialism", then look away from Cuba. It isn't socialist and never has been. It's "State-Corporatism" - where the state becomes the ultimate monopoly on everything.

Socialism = "Democratic control of the means of production". NOT state control.

  • How is Obama doing taking the troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq? What? what do mean he's bombing Libya ?!..........HOW MUCH PER MISSILE ?!

  • god damn multi-billionaire.. not one single day of work in his life... o.O
