Even a casual viewer already knows what "SNL" stands for. Frankly, I don't even watch it anymore. But I used to be an avid fan, I admit.

I was inspired to produce this for two seemingly-strange reasons:

(1) I've always greatly enjoyed the original Saturday Night theme, which is presented in this video in a special, extended version, and

(2) An absolutely superb YouTube video that's patterned after the SNL intro also served as inspiration. You can see the other video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWx-QnUEVCs

Enjoy your favorite SNL star's smiles.

  • a lotta years, a lotta laughs

  • @jody808 -- Thank you, Jody! Yes, you're right. I'm no longer a big fan of SNL, but I'm always happy to see the smiling faces of people who once made me laugh. In YouTube, decent comments are relatively rare. You're was brief, but effective, and I thank you for it. Merry Christmas!

  • Nice video!! but can you tell me what song did you used in this video?

  • @goldwincs -- Thanks! I don't know the name, unfortunately, but this was one of the earlier theme songs. I got this one from a CD I bought years ago with famous TV themes. The original is only 75 seconds long. But with some patience and a free audio editing program I have, I was able to copy and carefully paste the various segments together, to make this extra-extra long version you hear in the video. Was that your question? Don't hesitate to follow-up if that doesn't answer your question.

  • I quit watching after the Not Ready for Prime Time Players left....the show became garbage after them...

  • @lkjhu76 ... I think there were some ... not many, but some funny moments, but overall, you're correct. One night last season, I tried to tune in for a couple of minutes and I wound up seeing that skit where several cast members were portraying a family being visited by a friend. I don't recall the dialogue, but before long, the men were all passionately kissing one another. Many people laughed and I understand why: because they're impressed by cheap shock-and-awe antics. It's trash, in my view.

  • The women rule the later years of SNL - Pohler, Shannon, Wiig, Oteri, Fey, Rudolph....BTW, Steve Martin was never a cast member

  • @lkjhu76 That's a tiny bit harsh. SNL has been on the air for a loooong time, and some truly great performers and writers have passed through studio 8H in that time. I don't think the show is particularly good right now (I agree that there are too many shock and awe antics these days), but I do think that this great comedy institution has had plenty of brilliant periods since it's original cast parted ways with the show.

  • @bootlegs11 Belushi,Farley, and Norm are tied for number 1

  • Andy Samburg's the least talented of them. His "teenager who just woke up" is the dumbest character on the SNL news.

  • This is a wonderful video. I mean, words can't describe it. It captures everything. Sure a few things were missing but there was still a lot of great stuff. Pretty much all my favorites were in it. Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz, Victoria Jackson, heck alomost everyone in here are my favorites! Even some of the most recent members are fine, too. I don't watch SNL anymore, either but whenever I get the chance I watch the older seasons. This is the best show on TV and I can't get enough of it

  • @PenaltyKillah That's probably because he just JIZZED IN HIS PANTS!

  • @prorollerskater I totally agree. I miss Jimmy too! He had so many funny bits. BUT, I think his show now (LNJF) is just as funny if not funnier than his SNL days. Do u watch? I watch every night, usually 2-4x each episode. Sooooooooo funny!!!!!

  • I miss Jimmy Fallon so much on here.
