This is the sound coming from the machine during the spin cycle. The basket doesn't spin. The wash agitator and pump work fine. Any ideas?
August 2011 updated:
The washing machine was replaced with a new one. New unit on sale was cheaper than replacing the transmission/gear box that failed.

  • The belt could be broken

  • Thanks for the response. It ended up being the gear box!

  • your gearcase is bad

  • Did the gear box cost much?

  • @thibaulthalpern hahahahhahaahahahaha

  • My mom has that brand.

  • That my noise!!! I fixed this today with a used transmission, crankcase from ebay, $55 shipped by wholesaleking83.

  • @tmmaston They don't use belts.

  • @spozify Direct drive's don't use belts.

  • Transmission is shot.

  • new belt?

  • @ddismuke26 Not entirely, it requires removal of the cabinet, the bolt inside the agitator, removal of the pump, the motor, then the transmission holding bolts,

place in a vice, remove clutch assembly, remove transmission cover bolts, removal of white spin gear, to take a look to see if the neutral drain pak is broken.

    OR

    Replace the transmission.
