Honestly, I might be in the minority here, but this is the tempo I like this prelude in. It's a thoughtful piece, and I feel that when you play it slowly, you are able to catch more of Bach's chromatic slide nuances. Phrasing and dynamics really enhance the dramatics (this one doesn't), and of course no "muddy pedal" on Bach! But yeah...so far, this is the closest I've found to what I'm talking about. As much as I love Gould, I don't "feel" his interpretation. To each his own, aye?! :)
@Max0Inq On fact, there's a band called Globus, which plays a certain kind of symphonic rock, and has a song titled "Prelude" - also named On Earth as in Heaven- I have to recognize a very nice musical piece. You can look it here in YT.
Hi Elise, I would say just follow what the sheet told you. keep the note 'singing', don't detached it unless there is a 'rest' sign after it (lots of them are placed after quavers, but NOT every quavers has rest sign after them).
or u can always refer to youtube videos played by pros :3
