My Toyota Story

Welcome to my story. I have 1991 Toyota Camry V6 LE with 244,762km (152,088 miles) for only $130 on December 18, 2009. It used to be crap car, with lot of problems, and very rusty. It's my first project car at age 15, perfect for me because I love to do father-son thing, to learn from my dad, work hard on my car for almost 1 year, until December 7, 2010, we finally got license for it, we got it from junk yard, so it must to get safety test passed, but it failed 4 times before.

Seriously 130$? I once saw a used 1989 Plymouth for $1,033 for it on a ad. Also, after all the exhausting work of putting this Toyota into looking like new, how much did the entire total cost of repairs cost?

Almost $1,000. Still not bad, and I still have it and drive it everyday. For 2 years, ZERO problem. I love my car.

What is the safety test for and what do they check for ?

I got this car off from junkyard that has no registration and everything is in bad shape, and my car is not allowed to have license until it's passed the safety test. That's what caused my car failed to pass;

1. Rust/hole on passenger area, it is dangerous because smoke can go in.

2. Rust/hole in the trunk, same thing with #1

3. Bad air value

4. One more thing that I forgot what is it.

We already check why the engine service's light on, we find nothing wrong with engine. Same with my dad's SUV, it always go on for 4 years, nothing. My mom's old crap car, 6 years, nothing wrong with it.

got the same issue with my toyota tercel we bought our 95 toyota tercel 7 years ago next day engine light came on, brought it back to toyota hooked it up to a computer and everything came back fine. So w/e engine light is no matter been on for 7 years and the car runs and drives fine and still gets the same gas mpg sence the day we got it :)

wow that car has come along way! thats cool looking for once being a junk car! yeah ive seen a couple of really good running cars with the engine light on but nothing wrong with car! tis strange why that happens! have you driven it and are you gonna have a driving vid? ive always wanted to do a project car to fix up nice! I love the color of the toyota, its a nice dual color unlike what my car used to be! mine used to be green and grey which not to bad but not cool!
