Jim Williams (Kevin Spacey) and John Kelso (John Cusack) seek out Minerva (Irma P, Hall) to use her talents to help get Jim acquitted of murder charges, From the 1997 film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, directed by Clint Eastwood. Based on the novel by John Berendt.
The real "Minerva" died in 2009. She was not a "Voodoo" woman, but rather a Hoodoo woman.

This scene is a good example of why the movie didn't work -- even this, the title scene, just lays there, flat as a pancake and does nothing.
Eastwood just missed all of the potential in the story.

Minerva real name is Valerie Boles. John Berendt actually changed most of the names in the book. If you're ever in Savannah,take a "Midnight In the Garden" tour it is well worth the money.

I L*O*V*E Minerva, especially when she spies a squirrel on a park bench, and she says something to the effect, "I knew you when you were just a 2-bit hustler on Second Street."
