An off-road race in southern California has ended in tragedy, after a truck crashed into a crowd of spectators, killing eight. The accident happened moments after the start of the event, in which off-road vehicles reach high speeds and make jumps. The Saturday-night race in the desert also left twelve people injured. It's not known why the truck driver lost control of his vehicle.

  • @TVXchristianTVX You're right! It's not his fault, he came down from the jump, tapped his breaks and the truck pitched -- as they say, "s h i t happens." As if it's not bad enough he has to reconcile with himself that eight lives were lost, he may some day log on and see a lot of senseless, insensitive, and ignorant comments. If you don't know or understand the sport just don't comment people. You weren't in his shoes, so don't judge.

  • it was a mechanical fail on the truck which cuased this horrific accident, these werent dumb red necks these were family and friends of the racers the spectators shouldnt have been so close but this is how the get there rush and the racers get the rush from drivin, should could would but this how it happened the only thang we can do is support the family and friends that we lost we will love and miss you

  • we are sorry only people at fault really are dead becuase they are idiots and stood to close to the race hard to feel sad for some dumb people going ooo theres a truck doing 80 sideways on dirt lets stand 1 foot away

  • @Class11Bettie - like you said, he tapped the breaks and the truck tipped. But also if you notice the truck that was in front of him was going quite a bit slower, so i think what happen is he came off that jump and while he was airborne he seen he was gonna hit the guy in front. so while in air he made adjustments,by hitting his breaks, or turning to one side. Then when he landed it was just too much.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA WOW we have murders, rapist and just straight up corruption within the American Government and this is what makes it to news, some fuckin rednecks who got too close, sad YES, tragic NO. like what the fuck is this world coming too when shit news like this gets valuable news time instead of addressing REAL problems. FOR FUCK SAKES, SOLVE REAL PROBLEMS MEDIA YOU ARENT HELPING ANYONE !!!!

  • @jonerton67 -- No one of us, including jonerton67, could have or even would have made the "right" decision if in a similar situation to yield a different, better outcome. I don't care who you are, what you drive, or how long you've been driving. Seriously, maybe it's just me, but people in this sport stick together and support one another NO MATTER WHAT. They don't "one up" each other from the same side of the fence.

  • @jonerton67 -- Funny, from the sound of it we are both on the same side of the fence; not opposing sides. If you're a racer, you know stuff happens sometimes that leaves us with a nano-second to make a decision, so really what order things happen in just kind of doesn't matter as some point -- things happen, right. I stick to my original stmt, I DO NOT BLAME BRETT, I support him.

  • @Class11Bettie you're comments are ignorant by saying its not his fault, but it was his action of pressing the break that caused it all. Which is NOT the case..

  • @Class11Bettie well he didn't hit the breaks when he landed, only after his steering rack broke did he hit the breaks. First words were, the steering wheel ripped out of my hands, doesn't sound like he hit the breaks wrong. Looking at the truck itself, he broke the rack...

  • @bretx0r Sure you will see people doing the same, the locals down in Baja still do it. These local guys will do this at the fastest part of the race where the trucks are running at 100mph+, they dig deep ruts then put thin plywood over them and throw dirt on the plywood so the drivers don't see them and the trucks end up digging in and going end over end usually ending up in the crowd. It's pretty messed up, like the moronic locals!

  • How are my comments ignorant? He did tap his breaks (whether it was intentional, or not), I know for a fact. I don't blame Brett at all, in fact if you had read ALL of my comments (which it sounds like you didn't), I am in total support of him even though our close friend was killed. Perhaps you were there (at this rate, who wasn't), we were all almost hit, and I know exactly who the first was with him, who stayed with him. But, as you say, "all good though." The sport carries on.
