Ammo, DJ G-Force and I started "You Might Be" back in March. We all met working at the bagel shop. It amazed and humored each of us that a DJ/Producer, Producer, and Songwriter all happened to work at the same place and after weeks of talking about making music, we finally got together one night at Ammo's place. I can't describe the combination of anxiety, nervousness, and excitement I had walking over there that night. I was about to actually make music for the first time. I had just written "You Might Be" (inspired by a girl I had just met) and knew I wanted it to be my first project, probably partly because it was fresh in my mind. You'll see in this video that we originally had a different beat than the one that you hear on the final cut, which is part of the reason (along with a lack of equipment) that the song took so long to finish.
Nevertheless, we (as planned) finished the song within a week or two of when I got back from Europe. I (might be wrong but) I think it's unprecedented for a person's first recording to sound as good as "You Might Be" does.
I would like to thank Ammo & DJ G-Force for helping me take a big step in my development as a songwriter, a step that also inspired me to start becoming more versatile (as I am now starting to do some producing of my own). The three of us will be collaborating very often and you can expect a lot of energy from our collaborations, whereas some of the music I make on my own might be more mellow.
