I actually have to agree with Dvorak here. The iPhone has been around for a couple of years now and it has yet to impress me. I spent months trying to get used to the virtual keyboard and eventually just gave up. The service is bad and AT&T drops calls daily. The one nice feature is the app store, but it's hard to find anything with the iTunes interface. If you want a game console, get a DS or a PSP. If you want a phone, get an HTC Hero. If you want a device to make fart noises, get an iPhone.
John C Dvorak was doing what he always does, heckle Apple users because they're the sort of people to get irate and respond.
Besides at the time of this interview its unlikely he actually had hands-on time with the unit.
I have an iPod Touch, its "OK" - battery life is kinda disappointing and I think smart phones are going to be that way for some time to come, though you can't blame people for wanting to have the latest gadget.
Battery technology is steadily getting there though.
True but he's kind of right. I mean, does anyone really prefer the virtual keyboard to a real one? I know I don't even though I do have an iPhone for it's other great features.
lol. neural actuators, touch screens, voice commands...when that shit works right and is cheap enough mice will be retarded.
keyboards will probably outlast them simply because even if voice tech works right...do you always want to be talking to your computer when you write? It's annoying. especially when people are around.
I don't usually side with macfags but I have to admit this guy is an idiot.
The iphone is a brilliant device for two reasons: 1. it works as advertised and 2. app store
I wouldn't buy one though. I did however buy an ipod touch and I love the thing.
The iphone...is an ipod touch with a shitty cell phone inside. And it's not a business phone because it lacks the networking security features that the blackberry has. Its a gimic but that's what consumers like, and thats why he's wrong.
I'm far from being a "macfag" (any form of fanboyism is faggy), but I do love my iPhone.
The cell phone is fine, and suits my needs perfectly. If I had more demanding business needs and required networking security features then yes, I'd get a Blackberry (though not a Storm - I haven't heard anything good about that handset).
