A very overdo Dreadfleet video of the painting of the Swordfish x3. I've had enormous problems trying to post vids. using the old 286 computer I was gimping by on but now that my current system is back up and running I can post again at long last. Still slow going trying to install my old software but I am alive and painting, albeit sick again. Stay tuned for more.

Sidenote: When painting the emblems/icons, you really need patience, a tony brush tip, and a steady hand...and if you have one, a flat brush rather than a round brush. I need to get one after this!

  • ps: regarding the details of the sails; should I just go with a fine tip 0/5 or 0/18 and paint, rather than dry brush across? I think the dry brushing I did for the bone pieces (turtle, ruler) looked fine for , well, aging bone of dead remains, but don't know how the look would go over on a refined material like silk or whatever the sails are made from.

  • @JChalant: Fine tip. I tried to dry brush the emblems for a base coat but for the Swordfysh sails it just won't work well due to the shape of the sails. You'll need a lot of patience and a steady hand, and paint the icons solid. A dry-brush look overall really only looks good on rocks and areas that need a lot of texture. The silk of the sails needs to be more smooth. I'll post again soon.

  • seasonal changes bring out the worst in throat-thriving ick it seems. Everyone I know is struggling through this year. Get better sooner rather than later i hope. Thanks for the round-up on what you did to this point. I'm still working on terrain and misc. pieces before moving on to ships because I still hope for some GW paints and washes for Sunday so your video timing still works for THIS guy ;)

  • @JChalant: Washes are almost a necessity. Foundation paints can be skipped if you want to save on some cash, but washes really bring out those details so nice I consider them a must-buy.

  • no intro wtf ll glad you made/share this

  • @SwimmingInMtDew: As soon as my good computer booted to windows I cracked this sucker out first thing. Just wanted to get this up as soon as possible. I may add the intro to later videos but no heavy editing.

  • what would you charge to paint the entire Dreadfleet set

  • Coming along very nicely....sore throats seem to be going around this holiday...I am struggling with one of those myself...You're making great headway on the project, thanks for posting up your progress...have a happy holiday....Jim

  • looking good. Lots of work still to go

  • @SwimmingInMtDew She's not bothering to do the intros anymore because that would probably take a while to edit i.e. Too long, since she wants to get these out as quickly and as easily as possible.
