Bernie Sanders is one of the few in Washington who is not controlled by greed and corporate interest. He may well have investments in the stock market, but i can assure you his total wealth is probably less than half that of the average senator/congressman.

If Bernie Sanders had been President for the last 8 years, instead of Bush, we'd probably be debt free, the middle class would be growing again, poverty would be declining, unemployment would be going down, and our future would look bright.

@dty06 Right on. And someone mentioned that Bernie earns,- and "earns" is a good choice of words - $175,000 a year. Let me tell you something, that's a bargain, because if we had more people in government that actually cared about the American middle class and those below like Mr. Sanders does....this country wouldn't be circling the drain right now.I wish he was 50 years old and lining up for the presidency man. @JeremaiaJohnson I doubt he's ever offered to have his pay reduced, but I do know he's one of the poorest legislators in Washington. He owns property worth $100-250k and has a savings account with about $130k in it according to Forbes. The average worth of a US Senator was over $4 million in 2008, according to the NY Times.

Rich Tarrant: a total failure. He actually thinks James Inhoffe and other people in Congress who have been bought by corporate interests can be reasoned with. Bernie Sanders is a true American hero. He's done more for the average person than hundreds of Congress members combined. Who cares if he challenged Tarrant for lying?
