PLEASE COMMENT! The following is part of a video-only walkthrough of "The Empire Strikes Back" title for the original Nintendo. There are ten levels total.

LEVEL 5-Jedi Training
There is a spider cave right before encountering Yoda pre-Phantom Vader battle. That cave has three Force Powers...a repeat of Levitate and Deflect, and then the Graphic Eye. I'm pointing it out to you and showing you where it is, but not going through it for time's sake. Besides, you should already have two of them, and the generally-useless Graphic Eye is available in the next level in a much easier context anyway.

Most people never got through the first few levels of this flawed, but impressive NES game. As such, most online reviews and videos are done only with the first Hoth level as reference. Since few online resources even have screenshots of later levels, these videos are meant for illustrative purposes so gamers can see what they missed.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT GUIDE!!

I have never before made it past this level!

(I am playing this game in the Game Boy version so it is not 100% identical but 98% or so so far ! =D)

  • no obstacle is too great? i guess "size matters not" is too hard to understand.

  • idk how but as kid i remmember that i never understanded how to use the forces and somehow i got to darth vader even twice but never managed to kill him without using any force

  • I actually found the Dagobah section quite good. Same for the SNES game(though the boss was tough), as the artwork and music really came together.

  • 0:58... I always wonder why that mantis isn't there when returning from the pit.

  • i can't believe how recklessly you run through this level and still survive. I used to go so slow and try to shoot each enemy in order to have enough life to get to the end.

  • in playing this game whit in a child in GB! hahaha, thanks for the walktrought!

  • Hey, I finished this game too! I passed the spiders with force run to avoid spending too much force power.

  • I love the sound byte at 0:40

  • Wow!This game looks wicked and hard.I wish the games of now were more harder like this. :(
