i think you have to learn to used ur calculator better.300 million people live in america 50 million speak spanish.so i dont think %90 of the population en US speak spanish.only ignorant people can make such uneducated comments.

@Inghildable "Está" is the usted form, which is a form of polite address. It is used when you are talking to someone older than you, someone that you don't know or someone who you feel you should address more formally. Had Eliot known the woman, or had she been a child etc, it would have been fine to use "estás" (the familiar form), but for the reasons mentioned above, "está" was more appropriate. Hope this helped!
