@yourjudgeandjury -- Yup. Most beautiful ship that should never have been built.
The Saturn V could have hefted 1/4 of the ISS into orbit all in one shot. And it was cheaper to build and launch than the per-launch price of Shuttle.
If we hadn't built Shuttle, we could have had an entire fleet of space stations up there for the price. And they could have all been American (We would have let the Eurpeans & Japanese & Russians join us later, of course.)
