Justin Robertson remix. Released on Creed records which was run from the same building as Eastern Bloc record shop in Manchester where Just worked.

Ariel were an indie band that featured Tom out of The Chemical Brothers on drums. This track was put out when Tom & Ed were at Manchester University.

I don't know the full story, but I'm guessing they all met in Eastern Bloc and got the idea of a doing a remix there.

But, maybe you know different?

  • a bit of a strange track but very good all the same... that beat tho' it's erm... er grr... it's.. ah it''l come to me.

  • The break is from 'Cosmic Sea' by Mystic Moods a weird american funk track from 1973.

Sea Of Beats is a strange track. I only ever heard it early on in the night. A 'come up tune' as we used to call them.

Justin Robertson used to do a Sunday night Balearic club in Manchester so I'm wondering if it was inspired by there?

  • Early night

    Balearic come up time

My fave part of the whole night :-)

  • I always dug the strange records like this.

  • @ResidentMich who cares!! it still sounds wicked,,,,,,

  • BTW Anybody know what the lyrics are??????????? Or even what language?

  • Bear in mind the club would occasionally finish with Capt. Sensible "Glad It's All Over", so yeah, anything and everything got played!

  • Top tune, great post!

  • Not strange at all. Early doors was so eclecti ANYTHING could have been thrown on.....I always wanted The Specials on early and remember asking Mike back at a flat somewhere why he didn't...can't remember his answerbut he always wante The Clash and eventually got his desire. his only cost £20 from Vinyl Exchange 2 years ago too. Cheap at double the price!!!
