@davidb1494 You can also just open quicktime, go to File > New Screen Recording, and start recording. If you want to record audio at the same time, just click the little arrow that appears and select what microphone you'd like to use. It's free!

I agree. After using iMovie for two years, I'm surprised by how complicated FCX is. It is not obvious how to use it, but requires many odd selections, clicks, and procedures. It's the kind of thing one can't figure out easily on one's own, as I did with IMovie. Plus. there was no booklet, just a CD with a manual of 1,000 pages -- not easy to use.
