Acer Aspire One

Acer Aspire One Intel Atom 1.6 GHz, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB HD, WinXP, and the color is Onyx Black. This is a test video I wanted to see if the Acer Aspire One could edit video. The video was shot with a Nikon Coolpix L5 camera in the MOV format which is a Quicktime format this poses a problem because I was going to use Windows Movie Maker which came installed on the Acer Aspire One to edit the video. So I needed to find some program to covert that format to something WMM could edit and that program is RAD Tools. RAD Tools takes MOV files and coverts them to AVI files which WMM can edit. So all of the conversion of the MOV files to AVI files AND the video editing using Windows Movie Maker also the uploading to YouTube was done on this Acer Aspire One shown in the video.

Performance... the whole process working with the Acer Aspire One was extremely enjoyable I was really impressed with this tiny netbook. Right now my YouTube webpage is loaded in IE7 also I am typing this report up using Microsoft Word 2007 and listening to internet radio thru iTunes. Using this Acer Aspire One as a mini video editor was truly amazing it surpassed my expectations I highly recommend getting one if you are looking at purchasing a netbook (for that matter a notebook too). I use to travel with my full size notebook (15 inch, over 6 lbs.) and now I can have the same convenience with the Acer Aspire One netbook thats about the same size as a large book and weighs less than 2.5lbs.

Note there was a situation where YouTube muted my audio because I used a song from my CD collection as a background song apparently it was in their database as a copyrighted song. So I did a search for royalty free music on Amazon and found several downloadable albums two were on sale for $8.99 each. These two album gives me a resource of over 200 royalty free music to use in my videos I recommend this route so as not to step on any copyrighted materials toes.

Hi, use Windows Movie Maker. Launch the program on the left hand side you should see 'Capture from video device' in the screen that opens you will see the Acer's webcam just select it and make sure your audio capture device is your onboard microphone or if you have a USB headset make sure thats selected. From this point just follow the screen prompts. If you still need more help let me know maybe Ill do another video showing how to do this

OMG I have a full size acer aspire and when I first got it I used this video editor that let me upload it straight to youtube. Now I cant find it or get it or what its called. And its not DVD Maker ive tried that IDK someone help me please.

@crystalskulls - I'm not sure about h264 my Nikon Coolpix L5 shoots in .MOV format and I would have to use RAD Tools to convert to AVI to edit with WMM. This process works great. This video was done that way.

hi again.. excuse my stupidity but im a mac useing now going mini.. so i have this acer now...and it does not seem to upload h264 from my sd card is that a problem with this laptop? im just going to now shoot on .mov to see what happins

@crystalskulls - It works great. It's so small and you can take it anywhere. I use mine with Skype all the time with the built in webcam and USB ports just plug in a USB headset and your ready to go. Using the onboard mic and speaker can be done only in a quite place. Editing movies doable if only 3-5 minutes long short video blogs are fine this is a great tool for that couple with digital camera that can take movies too would be a plus I use a Nikon Coolpix L5. Have fun with it!
