Manchester did a good job, however this show was truly abysmal. How can a city with a worldwide reputation for expressive music choose a plastic pop band from London and Russell Watson....

If Manchester didn't host the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the London would have never got the Olympics. The IOC head even said that because there is this outside perception that Britain cannot host a large event and is plagued by hooliganism, but the 2002 games changed all that. So give Manchester respect ignorant Londoners.

Londoners shouldn't be so superior. Some of us still remember London's idea for an opening ceremony for Euro 96 - knights on horseback jousting at Wembley!!!
The worst thing we could do in 2012 is try to do a Chinese opening ceremony which is what the media seems to expect.
