Metroid Prime at 1920x1080p resolution with 16x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering at a constant 50fps. I also used the widescreen hack and cropping.

Before I get this question, let me answer it:

Q: What kind of PC do you have????

A: I do have a nice PC, but this was NOT recorded in real time, this scene was meticulously captured frame-by-frame and then compiled into a video using Virtual Dub. I set the compiled-image video to run at a constant 50fps(the max speed of the PAL version of Metroid Prime).

Since Dolphin's frame dumping doesn't work perfectly, I took the long way around and simply taped-down the F9 key (Dolphin's "take screenshot" key) and captured each 1mb+ picture one second at a time.

It took hours to make this 1 minute video, but I think the outcome speaks for itself. As far as I know, I'm the first person to use this method with Dolphin.

  • I just found out this game ran on Unreal Engine 2.

  • i've seen some pointless things in my time, but this video takes the cake. you wasted hours of your life to try and prove that the game can run at 50fps? We know it runs at 50fps. I could switch my gamecube on now and play it, or I could run the game in Dolphin now and play it at 50fps...

  • i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz, 8GB DDR3 and GTX 560

    I play Wii version of trilogy on dolphin (mouse aim and everything)

    DX11 Full-screen 1080p with 1080p internal resolution, 4xAA, 4xAF -> constant 60fps.

    I'll probably record 1080p meta ridley battle from Prime 3 when I finish Prime 1 and 2. :)

  • my friend actually ripped the disc and got some bluetooth stuff to snyc with his wii mote. He's using a super awesome graphics card to run this on his big screen in 1080p with 80fps. I hate him.

  • The difference to me is minimal: it only gets less blurry, but it's better than nothing!

  • graphics are as good as the Call od Doody games.

    now how do i get my hands on this emulator

  • I don't know if this was available in Dolphin back then, but nowadays you can get even much better results if you up the so-called "internal resolution" (second tab in the DX config menu) from native to window size but you can forget about applying 16xAA in this case because at least with my PC this will give me only 6-8 fps.

  • @kickstartavalanche No, you're not, We all want Samus HD :D

  • @ThisIsWEB Wii U is growing on me a little! But isn't necessarily giving me anything new to go on than what I was expecting...However!..Smash Bros? Battlefield 3? Ninja Gaiden? ZELDA HD TECH???! Now that is worth bypassing the name! WHERE WAS PIKMIN AND METROID?? Or am I just being greedy ;)
