Funny enough they are the freest and most happiest people on Earth. Their lives are a never ending carnival. Read Mikael Bakhtin's Grotesque body and Carnival. He gives a good account of how they transgress boundaries and live in a sort of Utopian world.

1:35 I think he has that disorder where your muscles all disappear and you cannot move. Those people have to eventually decide how they want to freeze, sitting down or standing up. They remain like that unable to move for the rest of their living days. I think I would prefer to be straight. That way you can be laid down or stand up.

Yeah, & if that is, in fact, what he's doing, i'll give him credit for choosing this movie. Freaks was a breakthrough movie in its day & incorporated many issues, including equality. In addition, it gave rise to several real-life struggles with equality, most notably that of the Hilton (siamese) twins.

It was a good effort, but I think he tried a bit too hard. That's ok. :))
