Actors Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood talk about the shooting of "2001: A Space Odyssey," and the mechanics of Kubrick's perspective-(and mind-) altering view of activity aboard the Discovery. In the two-part interview that appeared on the cult Manhattan cable access program "Media Funhouse," Dullea and Lockwood offered up reflections on their work on this milestone film and their other notable appearances in the movies and on episodic TV. This interview was shot at the Chiller Theatre convention in New Jersey and yes, the sound is directional, despite the presence of the hand-mic.

Sadly, not on the one I have. But they keep reissuing Kubrick's films again and again, and both gentlemen are both in fine health, so there's a chance we may get one in the future....

The newest version of the '2001' DVD is a 2-disc set. The first disc has the movie with a commentary track by Dullea and Lockwood.

Well I'll be damned... THAT'S how they did that scene. I knew they had a centrifuge they rotated around to keep the action at the bottom, but couldn't figure out how that particular shot with the two actors on opposite sides was done. Ingenious.

The interviewer looks like Central Casting's answer to "giant sci-fi geek." Keir's still a babe. Kubrick was a genius, as if that bears repeating.
