Dustin Wilkes on Nashville Star

Growing up in Jackson County, GA, Dustin Wilkes always knew he wanted to be a country music singer/songwriter. Dustin began singing and playing guitar at the age of 11, and in high school he started writing his own songs. In 1999, Dustin decided to join the Marines and served for five years.
While in the USMC, Dustin volunteered his time to the Toys for Tots organization and was inspired to write the song "One Toy at a Time." This song was used in the Toys for Tots National campaign.

Dustin's musical influences include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels and Hank Williams, Jr. Dustin has been a two time regional finalist in the Colgate Country Showdown. Since moving to Nashville, he has been playing his brand of outlaw country at the world famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, and spends his down time writing new music.
